Title: WS12A with dimmable fluorescents, not working as expected
Post by: rockinthesixstring on May 29, 2009, 02:22:53 PM
I just got my WS12A's in the mail and ran out to buy some Dimmable Fluorescent bulbs... you know... doing my part!

My switches work as expected if I throw standard incandescents in the receptical, but as soon as I put the fluorescents in, the unit stops receiving the X10 commands.  I can still turn the lights on, off, and dim from the wall switch, but it is not doing anything via AHP commands.

Why would this be?

Oh... If I hit "off, off, off, etc" a bunch of times, then I can get it to shut off, but no on commands or dim commands work.

The WS12A is a two wire [if you don't count the traveler wire for a WS14A Slave Switch] and steals the power to run through the load. They do not work with CFL bulbs. Standard or Dimmable.

Some here have used one standard bulb in a multiple bulb light to supply the needed power.

Other than that. The WS13A switch with a mechanical switch that does not dim and used a Neutral Power wire should work.
