Title: Lamp Module Dims to 0% Will not dim to half way.
Post by: dscott171 on June 02, 2009, 04:31:15 PM
I am using a LM465 lamp module and control it with a HR12A remote.  Before I could dim the lamp to various levels but all of a sudden when I push the dim button the lamp dims to off.  And then it takes a few minutes before I can turn it back on.  I have tried a new lamp module and new remote and new receiver.  Any Ideas?

If I read your message correctly. You start a dim with the HR12A and when the button is released the dim continues? You have tried a different remote, transceiver and even a new lamp module and the problem continues.
Anything else in your setup? Not mentioned yet.
Any X10 Repeaters in your install?
Are the Lamp Modules the newer soft start one that ramp up and down with on and off commands?

Yes when I release the button it continues to dim.  I have other lamp modules installed along with wall switches and outlets.  The module is a LM465 and I have had it for a while.  Not sure what you mean by ramp up and down.  When I turn the module on it goes to full on. I have set all other modules to off and even shut down my PC and unplugged the module that is connected to it.

Thanks for replying!!

Also I am using a TM751 Transceiver Module and I have to unplug it and plug it back in to turn the lamp back on again.

The recent Lamp Modules have what is called Soft Start. When you turn them on and off; they slowly go on or off. About two seconds total time.
Are any of the other Lamp Modules and Wall Switches on the same address as the problem Lamp Module? If they are do they also do a constant dim? If none are on the same address try one as a test and see it also does the samething in the same outlet as the problem one. If only the one module does it even if others have the same address. Good chance the module has failed.

I have been trying to figure this out all day and just discovered that my son had plugged in a TM751 Transceiver Module in his room.  Removed it and beat the %&(*& out of him (Just kidding ;D).  Problem is fixed.

Thank You VERY much for your replies!!!!!

LOL The kids our my number one automation problems. They hold bttons to long or flip safety shut offs on switches oh and shut off the lights at the lamp instead of switch or remote.
