Title: Will BVC open Windows media player?
Post by: blaib on October 27, 2009, 07:15:31 PM
Hello, Just discovered BVC looks AWSOME so far.  I have Active Home pro ordered (already have software)  I have several modules also.  I would like to open windows media player with BVC if possible.

Thank You

Brian,
BVC can't do it directly, but BVC CAN activate a phantom module in AHP and a macro can be assigned to the module address that activates Media Player.  Someone here posted a small app that can run MP from a palmpad, so I know it can be done.

On a similar note, check this out: http://wgjohns.com/forums/index.php?topic=97.0 .

Not exactly what you're looking for, but it has worked fine for my needs.

Ok that sounds good!  Can you help me set it up?  I'm a little new to this, I think I know what you mean about setting up a phantom module but the macro that is assigned to the module address that activates media player is getting me.

Thanks
Brian

Depending on what you want to do, you might take a look at this:  http://download.cnet.com/Aiekon-Voice-Automated-Media-Player/3000-2139_4-10543233.html

Not to take anything away from anybody but I've tried this and it works fairly well.  Fully automated voice activated (recognized) media player.

Just curious... will that work [in conjuntion or] with BVC? Could/can I operate both programs at the same time? How about then closing the media player... or is that even needed?

I used to have it on the same system I believe (don't quote me on that) I originally had it on a separate music pc, but i ended up giving that pc away.  Then I just kinda been working on PCC on getting it working again.  But I do remember having a lot of fun with it.  It's totally free so download and give it a shot!

I might.. but I am really not a music type. But I know from reading here and at Bill's forum (http://wgjohns.com/forums/index.php) that adding a [voice controlled] music player is a big deal for many.

Media player has command line options.  http://www.funponsel.com/blog/windows-media-player-11/windows-media-player-11-command-line-options  you could you these with autohotkey and play anything you want.

Use autohotkey to make a .exe file for your playlist or songs.  Then put them in a  macro in AHP with a trigger.  Then use BVC to trigger the macro.   >!
