2 weeks ago I purchased AHP ver 3.236 with the cm15a and about a dozen wall switches. It wasn't long that I discovered that the timers would not work at all. After joining this forum I read that this is a buggy version of AHP. After countless hours of experimenting I have found that if you do not check the 3 boxes on the right side of the advanced screen in timers, the timers will work first time every time! This means the timer will not save to the interface but if you go to the Tools menu and select (Download timers and macros ) it will save to the interface and still work flawless! I hope this will help others who are having timer problems with this version, I've read that updates don't come to often!

This "Timer Not Working" theme is one of the most frequent on the forum. Assuming this fix works (sorry I threw AHP away a long time ago so can not test), maybe if a moderator would insert the word "Timer" in the subject line it would get appropriate hits when searched for.

Bill,
You indicated that you threw AHP away a long time ago. I have been using it for less than two weeks. Out of curiosity, did I make a mistake buying it and if so, what should I consider as a replacement? Before I get too deep into this project, I want to make sure that I am going down the right road.

Bill,

Wait a minute Dutchboy.. Bill didn't say (type) that.. dave w did. But it is however a darn good question (although I think I know the answer). And personally I think the CM15A and AHP (with the entire software suite) is the first biggest best step most people can make towards real home automation.

I'll second that reply Dave. AHP is a nice starting place and a very impressive setup for a non invasive approach to home automation. Anyone with a little hands on, can use it without even having to hire out some help.

To Dutchboy
And I agree with Dave X10 110%! When AHP first came out (2004?) it was loaded with problems. Macros did not work, and conditionals wasn't available yet, early CM15A had to have the bateries removed everyother day to "wake it up" again. Besides those exaspirations, I had tried voice regognition X10 on a Commodure 64 computer back in 1985 and wanted it again. BVC was probably but a shining light in Bill's mind, so I jumped ship and went to Homeseer for voice recognition and text to speech. Had BVC been available I would probably have not have spent the money for Homeseer (but I do like it and it is very soild).
Yes AHP and CM15A is the most economical and perhaps the easiest way into home automation with X10 protocol/products. Didn't mean to imply otherwise. The user interface for AHP is easy to learn and the "drag -n- drop" function is perfect if your have never tried programing. No, AHP is a very good starting point.
