What is the diff between those 2 ? I want to be able to program the AHP software to send command to the commander telling it to start my sat. box and audio receiver that are already control by my Harmony 1100.
Thanks

The VCR Commander is a device designed to cause a VCR record for 3 minutes... then automatically stop the VCR. The Commander would normally be triggered by a Motion sensor... that sends a normal X10 House/Unit address via RF (radio frequency). Of course the CM15A interface could also send the RF signal... that would be received by the VCR Commander. Just don't enter/program the OFF code in the commander. Or the device... will turn OFF after 3 minutes.
Satellite receivers... are a code class of there own... or so I've heard. I can't swear you'll be able to get the VCR Commander to use those IR codes.
I think the term IR Commander... is also used for the VCR Commanders... as not many people actively use VCR's now-a-days.

VCR Commander 2:

Both are triggered by an X10 RF command.
Some of the X10 deals recently had a UX17A in the kit and we have not seen real happy users with it.

I did find what looked like the UX17A in AHP version 3.271 and it maybe in earlier versions also. I will look later at my earlier revision AHP on the back up test computer.
In my AHP i see the UX serie, does the UX23A is better then the 17A ? Will a CM15A will talk to the UXs ? Will a learning remote be a good way to program the UX for device that are not in the database?
I have the UX23A (AKA VCR Commander II), and it is a learning remote of sorts. You teach it via your VCR remote what is record and stop, and the RF command from a motion sensor sets it in motion...
The UX17A (AKA IR Commander) Seems, from what I read in the forums, to have the IR codes in it already, and you program your "unit code" - for example, '422=RCA TV' - and it knows the commands from that code.
Neither one is "new", although they have been reintroduced lately to try and sell more of them... :'
which one should i get ? Let say i want to turn on my NAD receiver, turn on my Bell Xpressvue, select a channel and adjust the volume , is it doable ? Will the cm15a talk to it ?
