I have metal mail box about 40' away from my home. Would like to use door/ window sensor. Like to use it so when mail man one my mailbox it would turn on a light in side my house.
If it is mounted inside the box. NO
If it is mounted outside the box in a weather resistant nonmetal case maybe. Depends on the exact installation and if anything is in the RF path.
Watwart sell the waterproof box for $6 . then i need to get on alart software so it would turn on a light.
On Alert is for a CM15A AHP interface.
The CM15A is not known for great RF receiving distances.
Do you have any antenna modes on yours?
You may want to try an RF device at the mail box to see if it can reach the CM15A before obtaining the sensor and software.
I have cm19a no antenna modes on it.
OK. You have one of the new kits where X10 bundled Basic AHP software with a TM751 and CM19A.
I don't have any experience with the CM19A and a DS10A Security Sensor.
I don't even know if it processes a security signal correctly.
I do know others here have used CM19As with Linux and Mac bases software. They should know if the CM19A can receive security coded signals.
I think it would work this is what i found out at onalart. but would it work with TM751 and CM19A. Going to post it at onalart forum and see if it would work. I'm running window xp on my old desktop

Yeah, I think getting 40 feet out of a X10 door / window sensor will be a challange. Probably requiring antenna mods on both transmitter and receiver and I don't know of mods for the CM19A.
