After a short power failure the light came on but never would turn off again. This may be an earlier model of the pr 511 as it is over 6 years old. If power surge burned out a componet can I replace it. These units have become very pricey as of now. Thanks for any help here as I am new to this board.

Have you cycled the circuit breaker feeding the PR511?
Sometimes a short power blip can lock up modules.
A power off. Wait maybe thirty seconds. Then power on again. This may allow the modules reset circuit to restart to a normal operation.

I have found that the PR511's regular price is pretty steep... But if you know where to look:

it can be quite reasonable ;)
