Title: AHP CM15a does not work but CM11a works?
Post by: Trent1467 on October 30, 2010, 01:52:05 AM
Hello,

I recently upgraded from my old CM11a setup to the new CM15a setup. The CM11a works fine but when I got the new kit it will turn one light on/off and dim but when a you try to control the next light they unit becomes useless. I tried clearing the memory and starting over but anything over that one light the system seems to lock up. Also this is all through the remote nothing automated yet and no macros. I have completely removed all the old controllers and placed the new in the same location with no luck. I also bought some noise filters since it looked like my computer might be causing an issue for the devices but that has not helped either. Once I connect the old controllers everything works as expected. Any help would be great.

Thank you...

If I read your post correctly.
Lets say you have a lamp module on L1 and you can control it in AHP. You then add an L2 lamp module and can not control it and maybe L1 now can not be controlled.

Can you tell us what version of AHP was installed?
What operating system are you using?
If you put the L1 module where the uncontrollable L2 is. Can you control it in that location?

Yes, you are correct. Once I add the second module say L1 and L2 stop. Even if I take L2 away again it is like L1 is still stuck.
I have AHP Ver. 3.236
Windows 7 64bit.
Yes, L1 will work where L2 was but I have to wait a while for it to start working again.
Also if I unplu the CM15 and replace it with the CM11a and leave all modules where they are now everything works as it should.

AHP 3.236 is a known buggy version and should be replaced by version  3.271.   Also if you are upgrading from Active Home your .x10 files can be imported into AHP, so any timers you have for modules can continue to be used.

How did you wind up with 3.236, that version is old.  If you can't find 3.271 on the X10 site, drop me an e-mail and I'll e-mail it to you.

This is the version that tech support had me download when I first got it and the links were not working. I had the issues then as well and they said this version was what I needed. I will take a look so 3.271 and see if I can find it. If not I will drop you and email. Thank you for all of your help so far!

That does not have 3.271.

No, it does not.
It does have current releases that are said to fix several issues though.
I would be more apt to use a recent build than an older one myself.
If anyone is set on using 3.271, you can find it here:

well I earlier I could not find the 3.271 so I went and got the latest version and no change. I tried to install the 3.271 after and now it seems that AHP is corrupt as the application will not start. I have tired add/remove programs and a reinstall and no luck. I also set it for compatibility mode for xp SP3 to see if that helped and the same results. I am going to try a few other ways to remove it and reinstall and see if I can get it to work.

I am also running Win 7 x64.
The uninstaller gives me some issues.
Try this:
Go to C:\Windows and find unwise_32.exe.
Double click this and browse to: C:\Program Files (x86)\ActiveHome Pro and find Install.log.
Allow AHP to uninstall.
Download the version of AHP and plug-ins you have and would like to use, reinstall, and see if this helps.
Just a warning, you will have to enter your registration codes again.

Tells me I can't use unwise since it is not a compatible app. I am going to try another computer. Also as I am workign through all these software issues I just thought that the lights won't even work with just the remote so does the software matter at this point?

Trent1467,

In regards to the original problem, how many TM751's or other such RF to PLC transceivers were you using on the old system, and did you leave any of them plugged in when trying the CM15A?

None? The old system was the CM11a and RR501. I removed the CM11a and only have been using the RR501. When I test the CM15a I remove the RR501 and plug it into the same outlet to cut down on the variables since I know that works from the

The RR501 is a transceiver and is usually used to receive RF signals from  a S13 "Stick-a-Switch" for example and convert them to PLC signals.  they work fine in both Active Home and AHP.

Did this ever get solved?

I have the same problem.  And the link near the bottom of the postings will not work.

I think Trent is gone.

Just my luck.  I am going to buy an old **** bomb computer with a com port and give up on the active home pro.  I can run the old cm11a until I die using the old active home software.  One of the big reasons for my "upgrade" was that the old com port computer died.  Instead of buying the cm15, I should have bought an old computer.  Live and learn.

Do they still make serial port accessory cards?
I think they do and some maybe the new PCIE socket ones.
