Title: AHP 3.296 Will not dim
Post by: Maine1 on November 27, 2010, 06:27:28 PM
I Just installed AHP 3.296 and cannot get it to dim any lamp modules.   The activity monitor shows the command being sent, but the red light on the interface does not blink like it does for standard on-off commands.  The modules can be dimmed by the hand controllers in the house, but not the software. I have selected the correct modules under type and module in the edit window, even tried changing the type, but to no avail. Any ideas?

Red LED on interface. So you have the AHP kit that has the CM19A interface in it.
If the lamp modules are the newer Soft Start did you try calling them a LM14A as recommended by X10?

Thanks Brian H, Just read the links and tried what they suggest, but no luck.  The new modules I have are Model PLM01 lamp module with AGC

X10Pro site says the PLM01 is not a soft start so forget the calling it a LM14A.

I will try my AHP 3.296 and see how it acts with a CM19A and a dim.

I also cannot use the "all lights on" or off command in the "room" window, nor in the tools drop down menu.  I can however turn on and off appliance modules from the tools menu.  I suspect the software is not recognizing my lamp modules.  Just tried a reinstall with no luck.

Can you dim or send all lights on with a remote?

It seems that 3.296 does not handle dim commands correctly with a CM19A.
I setup mine with the CM19A and a X10Pro PLM01.
Looking at the activity monitor it showed a RF On or RF Off when I toggled the module.
When I dimmed or brightened. It showed a %dim that is not correct for a PLM01 and was not an RF command but what looked like an attempted power line command. Using my 1132CU controller and monitoring the power line. I did see the On and Off commands sent by RF to my RR501 but the dim commands where not on the power line.

I retested it with the same 3.296 and a CM15A and the PLM01 acted correctly.

Does an older version of AHP handle it correctly Brian? Perhaps Maine1 could revert to an older version that works.

I am not sure if I checked mine when I bought the kit with the CM19A.
History file says CM19A support added at 3.269.
I believe mine came with 3.271

Wow, Thanks for the confirmation on that software glitch.  BTW 3.296 will not dim any of my older modules either, even the wall dimmer switches.

Tuicemen; Yep, I can control and dim all modules ( about 15 of them ) with about five different remotes, from anywhere in the house.

Humm I thought mine worked(limited) with 3.228
I know the SDK always worked with it.
Maine1 you can download an older version here!  (ftp://ftp.x10.com/pub/applications/activehomepro/)

The CM19A needs a transponder (TM751 or RR501) to put signals om the powerline.  You should have gotten a TM751 with your order.  X10 is not very clear when they sell the CM19A when purchasers buy it.  Only the CM15A can put signals on the powerline by itself.

Dan if a remote works he obviously has a transponder! :'

BUT Maine1 does not know that, he was asking why AHP can't control lights.

Dan, I purchased 3.296 from The Home Automation Store, bundled with TM751 and cm19a.  I will try the older version, and if it works I will stick with it for now.

You really need to get the CM15A, I understand you can get one on E.Bay for less than X10USA.  You will be much better off.  X10 needs to either stop selling AHP with the CM19A as new purchasers get confused or give explicit instructions about using it.

Dan He said he could turn them on and off. Only the dim function was not working through AHP and the CM19A.

Tuicemen's link seem broken.
I would try 3.271 as that was what I got when I bought my AHP with CM19A-TM751 Kit.

I believe Setup_AHP_271.exe is the one.

I may downgrade to 3.271 myself and see what happens.

Apparently not, I just clicked on it and it worked.

Yes Dan. Tuicemen fixed it after I found it broken and reported it.

Thanks Brian, 3.271 works!  I may switch back to 3.296 for trouble shooting.  I did notice while installing 3.271 that the software prompts to plug in the CM so it may install the drivers.  However the wrapper on the CM19a says to install drivers FIRST.  When I did the latter, it worked.

Thanks for the update. It does sound like 3.296 broke the CM19A interface operation.
