Title: One device will not turn on
Post by: rga650 on December 06, 2010, 06:25:10 PM
I have 6 devices, a mixture of plug in modules and wall switch. Control is done via CM15

I have solved all issues and have a timer program running with CM15 as stand alone. All timers go on and off as programmed with the exception of porch light. When the CM15 sends on signal the lights do not turn on. I manually turn them on and they go off as programmed at sunrise.
I am able to turn the lights on if I execute an on command from AHP; however for some reason the lights will not go on as timed for sunset.

I also monitored the signal log on AHP and the signal for on is going out and being logged, I also checked the repeat button, same issue, no lights go on.

I have replaced the switch with another (leviton 6381) and the same issue. I have also plugged the CM15 in an outlet on the same circuit (4' away) and no change.

AHP version 2.271

AHP version is 3.271.  Post the timers for the one module that won't turn on but turns off the light so we can see what's going on. Also, is there any other electronic equipment where the module is?

Just for grins, use an explicit time for the On command instead of dusk/dawn. Schedule it for about two or three
minutes after the dusk/dawn would trip it. I say this only because I used to see collisions with several commands that
were happening simultaneously (using Jeff's XTBM). All right around dusk/dawn time.
I've since cleaned up my infrastructure with the help of the folks on this fourm and don't see collisions anymore.

Hi All,

Thanks for your input so far. I tried your suggestion of on at a certain time and no luck.

The lights will not go on only off with timers sent from the CM15.

I also have replaced all 4 light bulbs, no luck

When I manually invoke the lights on I do notice a louder humming noise from the switch than any other ones in the house. The switch is controlling 4 60 watt exterior porch lights. I thought I would test if it is a load issue, removed 1 bulb and no lights come on. I have now removed 3 bulbs and will check if the light comes on shortly; however the important note here is that the humming noise is no longer audible when I manually turn the lights with only 1 bulb working.

The Leviton 6381 is a two wire module.
What type of bulbs are you using?
It is only made for standard incandescent type bulbs.
If you are using CFLs that is the problem and why the switch is humming and acting strange.

If you are using standard incandescent bulbs. Since the switch is a dimmer. It may have a coil in its circuit and it may not be mounted tightly to the board. It maybe buzzing and as more bulbs increase the current. It hum becomes louder.

The bulbs are regular bulbs. Also this is the second switch I have put in and it behaves the same as the first 6381.

Try deleting the porch light timer and re-write from scratch.

Thanks Dave, I have done that already. I also setup a timer program with just that device. Same results.

I am now looking at replacing the Leviton switch with an x10 switch to see if that makes any difference.
