Title: Why is AHP so slow to let you type?
Post by: DJ Cornfield on December 14, 2010, 10:36:52 AM
In the program, WHY is the program so slow to let you type in a text field?  Like, if I plant the cursor in a box to type in a time, it makes me wait about 8 seconds before the letters show up in the box.  I have tried turning off the "tip" balloons, the animated icons, etc.  Nothing improves the performance of this seemingly slow-thinking program!

What is the program DOING when it is supposed to be taking input from the keyboard?   >*<

Has anyone found a way to speed it up?

Haven't experienced that one yet.
Open Windows Task Manager and sort (top-down) by CPU.
Watch the top entries as you type in AHP. See what's
hogging CPU, if anything. Perhaps you've got some software
on the machine that's watching every little action. Also
make sure you've got plenty of free physical memory. If
you're bucking up against max ram, the pc will start paging
to harddisk which, of course, makes things a bit slow.
Do you have the latest (or known-good) video driver for
your pc and video card?
As well, try disconnecting the X10 controller from the USB
bus and see if that speeds things up any.
