Title: Energy Saving Incandescent Bulbs.

I know California has implemented the Energy Saving Incadescent Bulb requirement on 01/01/2011.
A year ahead of the National Requirement.

I have seen others, in other parts of the country, mention they have also purchased the new 72 watt halogin bulb that are the 100 watt replacements.

Has anyone tried them yet and how do they work with X10 modules?

I have seen Lowe's web site carrying the Sylvania ' Super Saver ' bulbs. I imagine my local store may also have them. I have not checked yet.

I have also seen those in stores.... and didn't know what they were/are. Is this Incadescent(?) bulb going to be around for a while? I will have to pick a pack up and try them.

I would imagine they will be around for awhile or replaced with something even better.
Whole country will be no longer be able to purchase a standard 100 watt light bulb on 01/01/2012. I believe 75 watt standard bulbs are in 2013.
From what I have read. Any bulbs you have in your spare bulb stock. Can still be used.
I can see large crates of standard bulbs being stock piled.  ;D

Yeah and in 2012 Nanny Gov will tell us CFLs are being phased out due to mercury. And in 2013 Nanny Gov will tell us LED bulbs are being phased out because of the rare earth metals in the LED die. And in 2014 Nanny Gov will tell us candles are being phase out because.....

Makes me nuts!

Of course.. it only makes sense! The old technologies are wasteful and have been replaced... they must be banned and examples need to be made.

Kindles and other digital readers are also much better for mother earth. Government book burnings certainly will need to be scheduled. I would assume.... if you've already read the book you'll be allowed to keep the memory of it.... [I would assume]

Looking over the CA law from the link above indicates that incandescent aren't being banned just required to be more efficient. I can live with that. Hope the national law is similar.
In addition the law requires more helpful labeling. Also the law affects the manufacturing of new bulbs. It doesn't require shelves be cleared of remaining old ones.
If that's the case, I might not have to stock pile as many.  ;)

The national law seems to be the base requirements California started a year early.
I may give the 72 watt ones a try when I see them.

Yes I read Ikea started their dropping the bulbs already.
