Would X10 be alright with me creating a native iPhone app that could work with activehome pro? From what I've seen with their mobile apps, its is able to communicate via http(s) correct? Is the protocol laid out anywhere?

I know they shouldn't have any issue with you working on something. As far as remote command goes, AHP will respond to http URLs with commands in them. See my ActivePhone Tips and Tricks thread for the format. Unfortunately, without ActivePhone installed, you get into using either your own Server-Client software (like what's been done with X10 Commander), or installing your own webserver that would have scripts to interface with the SDK.

Ah so in order to enable AHP's web server the user would need to have purchased the ActivePhone add on?

That's correct. :'
