This water leak detector switch is passive and self contained.
The switch inside the brown aluminum container does not require a battery or any power source for it to sense water.
The unique reusable mechanism opens (or closes) the contacts.
There are 2 models:
Model O- The contacts will Open when a little water is sensed.
Model C - The contacts will close when a little water is sensed.
Contact Capacity: Maximum switch current: 0.5A
Voltage: 100V
Rated Power: 10W
Splice a Model O into the yellow thermostat lead of your house A/C unit to sense condensate back up overflow and it will turn your A/C compressor OFF.
Your compressor can produce a gallon an hour and a leak can cause extensive damage.
There are many uses for this leak detector; both to turn ON and to turn OFF anything you can think of.
The switch can be reset after each use.
www.water-on-demand.us uses the Water Leak Detector Universal Switch as a 24/7 back up for the system.
A few drops of water and the entire house water pressure is turned off. No water damage.
(Thanks to Brian and Dave for all your help)

Where do we get em?

Where do we get em?
I'll make them first for the guys on this forum.
They require quite a bit of labor making them by hand.
What do you think a Magic Leak Detector Switch is worth?

Most x10 modules are in the $8 to $15 range

Neat!
Are they reusable, or are they a "one-shot", as in a swelling sponge?

This switch is reusable and it is easily reset.
I need to charge at least $19.95 until there is enough demand for mass production.
The switch can operate independently without any X10 modules to solve the A/C condensate leak problem.
This device is useful to turn any device ON or OFF when it comes in contact with water.

Hey BoyntonStu,
Great project. To save on labor, would it be possible to offer this in a kit to reduce the cost?
Thanks

Do you mean a kit for just the switch, the switch and its control components, or the entire Water-on-Demand System?
The Water-on-Demand installation is based upon the number of motion sensor loops, leak detector loops, the console panel, the main control valve, wiring from the console panel to the main valve (easy/cheap or difficult/expensive), fittings, and some miscellaneous parts.

Just the Water Leak Detector Universal Switch.

If I start bidding above .99 eBay charges.
If I can't sell it for more than $16 I will lose money.
