Title: Neutral Wire question
Post by: jayman13 on February 02, 2011, 10:10:40 AM
I just installed a WS13A.  Where am I supposed to get wire to connect it to the neutral pack of wires.  What I did was cut the wire off a PLWO1-W that I wasn't using and used that as the wire to connect to neutral.  Is that OK?  It works, just don't want to burn my house down.

The neutral only has to supply the power return for the WS13A itself and not the whole load.
Other than being the incorrect color {not White}. It should be fine.

Thanks.  In the future though where can I get wire to do this?  I'm a newbie so it may be something as simple as just going to Home Depot just haven't been able to find any wire when I looked superficially.

I am sure Home Depot and other home improvement vendors would have wire.
Though it maybe in prepacked length's.
When I did my XTB-IIR. I found a short piece at my local hardware store. They where going to prepacked boxes but still had a short piece from when they used a bulk roll.

Lowes and Home Depot in my area still sells wire by the foot. Menards only sells pre-cut, but you can get small rolls of white 14ga stranded.

Some of us have enough wire to start a phone company...
