Very confusing directions in the 1200 manual. 4* on for unit code 4. Ok, makes sense. Then the manual states: 16# to turn off for unit code 16. So I'm thinking they just chose two different unit codes as examples and since mine are set at 2, for the key chain remotes, 2 should work. I call, enter (after PIN) 2*, and nothing. Try it again with 4* and it replies "lights on". Of course nothing happened since my code is 2. Then I enter 4# and it replies "lights off". So two questions: If I'm going away do I need to set the modules to 4 and why the heck do they even mention 16 or am I missing something here? Thank you!

Substitute the Unit Code you want to control.
If you had a X10 signal line monitor. The 4* sent On to unit 4 and the console reported the lights on unit 4 where turned on. Since you have no unit 4 modules. You physically saw no lights go on or off.
The 2* should have turned On your lights set to unit 2 and 2# should turn them Off.
Try a module on 4 as a test. If it works and 2 does not. Something strange is happening with the console.

Thank Brian, I'll try it again!

It will be very interesting if unit 4 works and unit 2 does not.

I stand corrected! The lights went on and off with 2* and 2#. Not sure what happened with my first test.
