Hi,
does anyone have any experience with the openremote.org (http://openremote.org) product ?
Looks very promising to me, even being in beta.

I tried it out.
I interfaced with AHP using either the activephone http api or the X10 Commander's server.
It is very promising and is a cool idea, but their documentation is horrible and almost nonexistant. There isn't much support for anything but upb. I asked a bunch of questions about their http api and on how to set up sensors (to poll status of devices). I got no answers. All the devs pretty much ignored all of my questions. Some other users tried to suggest I buy upb interfaces which was sort of irrelevant. The functionality is there, the set up window is there with the fields, but whatever I tried to put in those fields, did not work. It was very frustrating.
Without status polling, all I could do was a static remote like the activephone interface.
I gave up eventually.
I did however try Homeseer's HSTouch Designer software. That thing is amazing and works on ios or android. With a much more polished designer compared to openremote, it is highly capable. But the only downside is, Homeseer software HSPRO (the one that includes HSTouch) costs $600.

THAT now doesn't very promising, but since its open source we might give'em more time.
I just set up a simple PHP script to trigger ahcmd.exe via http request on a AHP machine to access X10 with openremote controller. (The USB cm15a just works on linux by now)
Will look at the next steps you described now.
