Hello all,
I've been using AHP for a while with no issue on my laptop. I hadn't started it lately so I figured I'd run it just to take a look. However, when I did so, I was confronted with an an error reading "Active Home Professional has stopped working" at the plugin loading screen. The software was working fine last time I ran it (about 6 months ago). I have already tried restarting the software and the computer. I have completely uninstalled (registry entries and all) the software and reinstalled the latest version with no luck. I have AHP with Smart Macros, iWatchOut, MyHouse Online, and OnAlert. The computer is running Windows 7 x64 with all of the latest updates. I have a feeling one of the Windows updates messed up some key component used by AHP. Has anyone had any similar issues? Any advice on how to solve this issue?
Thanks,
someone

i ran into this same issue on one of my ha pc about 3 months ago and it came to be a corrupt ahx file. if you delete the ahx file and restart ahp that should solve it.

I feel really dumb here. Where can I find the ahx file?
EDIT: Duh. I found it.

I tried this method with no luck. I deleted the ahx file (made a backup first) but the program continues to crash at the loading plugins screen.

did you back up the ahx file on the same computer because if it is ahp might still be accessing it. If you still have the access codes I would try a clean install

I tried putting the .ahx file over on a friend's system and it opened without issue. I have also tried a clean install (even removed the registry entries) with no luck. I'm thinking it's conflicting with some other software on the computer. Does anyone know of any software that may cause issues?

The issue is most likeley a resent windows update.
This issue has been reported by me and several others.
A improper Windows shutdown will also cause this as will a AHP forced close. (Task Manager forced close)
the uses is listed in the bugs setion and I've since moved it to the top of the list.
