Title: Garage door opener lockout and security
Post by: jarleifv on October 06, 2011, 08:14:06 PM
See the attached photo...

I'm trying to accomplish this:

- Let the garage door opener only receive power when the correct flags are set, and use a Powerflash to open/close the garage door by contact closure
- Open the garage door from the house, without being limited to the garage door remote that came with the opener

I have a UM connected with a magnet sensor on the garage door.

Do you guys see any reason why this wouldn't work?

I need to get a powerflash to test..

Are you confusing the operation of Power Flash Modules and Universal Modules?

Are you confusing the operation of Power Flash Modules and Universal Modules?
To clarify:
A PowerFlash will send a PLC command in response to a signal from the contacts (either low voltage or dry contact).
A Universal Module will open/close a set of dry contacts (can be used to switch low voltage, too) in response to a PLC command.

In other words, the PowerFlash works as a controller, and the Universal Module works like a (for lack of a better term,) module.

yeah..i got'em confused..

the powerflash is connected to my magnet sensor, and the UM needs to be controlled by the receptacle..

there..now that's clarified..so switch that stuff around in my picture...

is it gonna work? is it logical?
