Title: CM 15A & CM 19A What's the difference?
Post by: bvrwally on October 15, 2011, 12:45:20 AM
I recently purchased a CM15A from this site and today, after a 2 week wait, found I was shipped a CM19A instead! Looks quite inferior compared to a CM15A? For what I was charged and expected...from the looks of it...Classic "Bait & Switch!" IMHO :(
Anyone?????

That sucks, send it back... I have two of the cm19a and ya nothing like the cm15a. Sorry to hear they mixed up your order.

CM19A.
X10 RF only signaling.
No downloadable memory.
Has to have computer On 24/7 to work.
Needs a transceiver like the TM751 or RR501 to get X10 signals on the power lines.
Can not send or receive X10 commands from the power lines.

CM15A.
Can sent and receive X10 signals on the power line and by RF.
Can be run from a computer 24/7 or have timers and simple macros downloaded to it and the computer turned off.

Definitely not a equal substitution.

Did they through in a TM751 so it would even work?

Once I reach them on the phone and get a RNA #.....it's going back! What a way to run a business! I have been trying to resolve an issue with my AHP for quite sometime now and have limited time to do so. This definitely does not help the situation! :(

I recently purchased a CM15A from this site and today,
This is interesting from a "is X10 out of manufacturing, or not?" stand point.    Could X10 be running out of CM15As and other X10 products?

The question to you (bvrwally) is: are you sure the package you ordered specified a CM15A?

Thanks

That is exactly what I was thinking.  We know the supply of Maxi Controllers dried up months ago, and someone reported they received that new mini-timer as a "replacement".

It sure did! It specifically stated a C15A was included!

Thanks for the follow-up. Since they still show the CM15A on the web site, they may truly be (just) out of stock. I hope X10 finds a CM15A for you, the CM19A is inferior from a feature and capability stand point. X10 should not be trying to peddle CM19A at the same price or as an equivalent to the CM15A IMHO.

I totally agree with that Dave! I need the CM15A, as I have had an issue with my cameras not switching and I was hoping to resolve the problem this weekend, but that didn't happen! :( Now I don't know how long it will take me to get this corrected?????? B:(

You guys were right again! They are "Out-of-Stock" and shipped what was handy for them! I'm returning the packaged CM19A and sourcing the correct CM15A elsewhere???!!!

I had a similar experience (in a separate post) - I ordered 5 PR5111 flood lights and was told they would ship right out.  When I received them they were PR511SD - SD standing for recertified.  No mention on my order, when I called they told me they are out of the PR511 so they sent refurbed as a replacement.  Not cool. I called 2 days later and asked for sales and told them i would to order a PR5111, they told me they had none.  I asked when they would be in stock and they said they had no idea.  Sounds like either supplier problems or they are just selling off whatever they have left.

As far as I know, the bait-and-switch of the refub units in place of the new units is not legal (even if they have a legal loophole, it certainly isn't ethical!).
They should give you at least a partial refund on your purchase price. If they aren't willing to do that, then you probably should contact your credi card company. I have heard a lot of reports of people having trouble getting refunds from X10 lately, so going through your credit card company might be a better route, anyway.

Back in June I had similar experience with VK82ASD Video Sender.  They sent me a VK55SD Video Sender (obsolete one generation back) even thought the order specifically stated a  VK82ASD  model.  I RMA-ed the order (they paid return shipping) complained that it was suppose to be a VK82ASD.   I received yet another  VK55SD.   I gave up then since it was free promotion along my Sc1200 alarm system.   What way to run a business....

Funny,  but I seem to remember the AHP/CM15 package as being around 50 bucks, and the AHP/CM19 as around $10.  How much did they hit you up for with the substitution?

Still thawing out from three and a half  days of no power, but I believe my CM19A/TM751 with AHP and a few plug ins was $19.99
