I have a socket module connected to my hallway light with a bulb inserted, the active home device that has the usb port in it is plugged into the wall in the same hallway which works fine 99% of the time.
occasionally it will just stop working and nothing i can do will get it to work, so i remove the socket module for a few dys and just use the light normally and when i put it back in it starts working again. i have done this several times over the past few mths. i bought an entire kit to setup but for now i am just using the motion sensor and the light.

Assuming you do not have to reprogram the Socket Rocket to get it to work again, this could be intermitant electrical noise preventing the X10 control signal from getting to the target.
Read about noise, coupling, and signal suckers, the information will help in finding the problem.
