Title: triggering a macro from another address
Post by: smwis007 on December 06, 2011, 03:50:57 PM
IN active home professional if I have a macro M1 and I want to use a wireless controller on hose code j (which also controls some individual modules). I want to use the wireless controller to send a J8 code to trigger the M1 macro. Can anyone tell me how to do this? Or what are some ways to do this?

The simplest way to do it is to create a "J8 On" macro, that triggers the "M1 On" macro.
In order to do that, create a "dummy" appliance module on M1, and call THAT from the macro.
A "dummy" module is simply one that you create in AHP, but doesn't correspond to a "Real" one you have installed somewhere in your home.

Ok I’m confused so I create a J8 on macro……is J8 the trigger? And I create a dummy module the resides in the M1 macro? How do I call up that dummy module? Sorry used x10 before but new to the AHP

No.
Create a dummy M1 appliance module.
Then, create a "J8 On" macro ("J8 On" is the trigger), and have it turn the M1 appliance module on.

That's how you call one macro from another.
