Title: Anyone using the new LED bulbs?
Post by: berrin on December 14, 2011, 10:02:20 AM
I am slowly replacing my incandescent lamps with LED bulbs in the 9 - 13 watt range. The older lamp modules work with them, but not the "soft start" or appliance modules. Insteon appliance modules work fine, but are about twice the cost of X-10 modules. Has anyone else found a work-around, since the older lamp modules are no longer available?

Thanks!

Some users here have found older before soft start LM465s for sale on EBay and from other on line dealers.

How old are the Appliance Modules you tried?
The newer CFL friendly ones are much better with the amount of sensing current on the outlet and may work OK with a 9-13 watt LED bulb. Real small wattage ones may still have a problem.

Short test of Appliance style modules.
X10Pro PAM01 older sensing circuit 2.23 mA AC, new AM466 0.34 mA AC, older 2456S3 v1.4 ApplianceLinc 0.55 mA AC, newer 2456S3 v4.1 ApplianceLinc 0.66 mA AC, 2001SHL ApplianceLinc 0.10 mA AC and the new Smarthome X10AM466 0.70 mA AC.
My 9 watt EcoSmart dimmable LED bulb seemed fine with all of them.

I am using HomeDepot's Eco smart 9watt LED light bulbs with (modified... added neutral) soft start wall dimmers and soft start lamp modules just fine!
The led's are dimable.
NON dimable led light bulbs may not work correctly or at all with dimmers though.
