Title: No Wireless on CM15a
Post by: toddbailey on November 07, 2012, 01:59:57 PM
I have a cm15a and a pair of phr03 remotes.

over the last few months remote operation has gotten worse tothe point of now being total inoperable.

I've already replaced the batteries and remote access  worked briefly  (2 days).

Is there any way to test/troubleshoot/repair these items?

How about a replacement receiver that partially replace the wireless aspect of the cm15?

Boomer, I'm going to ask this one more time. Are you sure the problem is RF? Could the CM15A be receiving the RF signals but the powerline commands are getting clobbered by electrical noise? Does the Activity Log show all the RF commands being received? If so then you need to look for noise on the powerline.

No further testing indicates it's RF,

all lights and modules respond to  "timer" functions and commands sent via the AHP software.
Additionally, I have a 110 ac plug in remote (SmartHome control Link) that functions normally and can trigger stored macros via keypad entry.
I've also replaced a passive coupler with a active coupler-repeater  x10 - XCPR.

After reading the rf interference post I unplugged dsl modem and sat tv boxes, just to eliminate any issues from those items.

Other than the swapping of the couplers, nothing has changed in the household..

The CM15a doesn't respond to any commands via the rf remotes, even if the remote is 6 inch away.

X10 tech support thinks the cm15 is bad, since it works other than via rf, X10 suggest perhaps installing a cm13, But  I can't find these anywhere or find any documentation.

One other thing you can check, is the setting for whcih RF codes are transcieved. If it isn't transceiving the RF codes you are trying, that might explain it.
Does the Activity Monitor show any of those codes being received?
Are you sure your RF remote is working properly (do you have a TM751 or RR501 to test it with)?

Given that you indicated this worsened gradually, one other strong possibility is that the RF receiver has gone bad. If so, I have designed a pin compatible replacement which might fix your problem and give you even better RF reception than before. See...

First, follow Noam's suggestion. If the codes are being transceived, it's likely to be a bad RF receiver.

Sometimes the Tranceived House Codes when set to AUTO don't work for everyone.
I used specific and checked all the House Codes on my CM15A.
