I have a UM506 that I use in my alarm system. I am not getting a contact closure when I send a signal with a remote. Contact works fine with the local on and off switch.
Has my UM506 gone bad? Do I need to get a new UM506 or can I repair this one?

Have you tried it in a few locations of the home? To see if something has change and is effecting the power line signals.
You may want to gently rotate the House Code and Unit Code dials. In case one of them is making a poor contact and the X10 address is not what the dials are set to.
Any new electronic gadgets or present one moved?
I don't think anyone repairs the UM506s unless they are electronically inclined and a do it your self type person.
You may find the UM506 is hard to find these days.

Lightning fingers Brian beat me, but this lists a good troubleshooting information link, so I will post. Like Brian, I doubt it is your UM506.
If it works locally you might have an electrical noise problem preventing the powerline signal from getting to the Universal Module. What new electrical gizmo have you plugged in recently?

As a test move the UM506 to the same outlet your controller (alarm system?) or transceiver is plugged in to and see if it works there.
