Title: Video Sender- Can't get any picture
Post by: spummerr on April 16, 2013, 04:54:57 PM
Hooked up my Video Sender unit to the out of my Sat box, then the Rec unit to the tv.

Checked all connections, tried different channels on the sender, Can't get a darn thing on the screen.

Can anyone help?

Start out hooking up to TV connected to Sat Receiver so the Video Sender and Receiver are only a foot or so apart and get them working. Then move the Video Receiver to the remote TV. Make sure the antennas are aimed at each other. How far will they be separated, and how many walls? They seem to suffer from low power, so one wall and/or about 50 feet seems to be the limit.

The video output from the sat box is a standard composite video and audio signal?

Do you have the latest VK87 5.8GHz Video Sender?

Here is the X10 wiki pages on the Video sender. Not sure if any added information is there.

Where you able to try dave w's test of a closer distance? As what you are trying to send RF through maybe the problem.

Well it might work, but you need to verify they are not defective and the way to do that is get them close togeather and test.
I have a non X10 brand off eBay and they work great, but I found out the transmitter only fires up when it is fed video. It does not transmit if fed only audio. Don't know if X10 operates the same, but make sure you are feeding the transmitter COMPOSITE video and not component   (if your sat box outputs component).
