I want to install in the home a wireless doorbell that works with x10, I saw on the website of x10, the option of
1 - Transceiver (TM751)
1 - Big Red Doorbell Button (KR15A)
1 - Remote Chime (SC546A)
but I read in a forum that the big red button doorbell was not working with the TM751, that is true or false ?
my idea is that I work as wireless doorbell and when push the button , send the signal to computer and show with the camera ip what i have install in my door , see who is it or the other option is install a motion sensor ......
i am confuse about that Big Red Doorbell Button (KR15A) , anyone can help me ?
thanks

ftp://ftp.x10.com/pub/manuals/kr15a-is.pdf
It will work with either security console or TM751.

Since X10 now has an outside factory making modules. There could be differences with the very latest modules from mine.
Tested two KR15A Date Code: 00L37 {week 37 of 2000}. Old so things maybe different now firmware wise.
Older TM751 with FCC ID Number on label.
Date Code: 00D17 {week 17 of 2000}. Sent proper X10 power line signal to a Chime Module and its internal relay operated On. KR15A sends no Off signals.
Newer TM751 with Complies with FCC Regulations Label.
Date Code 09L53 {week 53 of 2009} and 10E19 {week 19 of 2010}. Did not send any power line signals to a Chime Module or activate its internal relay. A HR12A Palm Pad did work correctly with those TM751's.

hi thanks both write me , so , what do you think ? i can but the 3 items and working together ?
with that you write me , i am more confused jajjaja

Since we are a user to user type forum and not X10 employees.
You may have to wait until someone. That recently purchased the kit. Has information for you.
You mentioned a computer trigger.
That will need some additional equipment to receive the power line X10 signal from the TM751 or RF signal from the KR15A and input it to the computer.
Do you have any X10 computer controllers now? If you do what is its model number?
Are you located in the USA, Canada or a part of the world, that uses 120 volt 60 cycle power? As that is what our X10 modules use for power.

hi brian H thanks for write me back
the controller x10 what i have now is CM15A , i live in miami
i search in this forum but dont find anyone what buy recently that kit ...
in the x10 web , say that working , in the manual of kr15a , say what working too , but the web this
http://www.thex10shop.com/product/x10-home-automation-kr15a-big-red-security-emergency-panic-button
say what they tested that button with TM751 and dont work
look this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=GZhvMFej2dg
i make somethink like that , that person use homeseer for control the light , but me use x10... so a good friend of france make for me a plugin for use x10 with this program of video , the call is road runner , that program is use for carpc , no home , but i like the many the app what have , and i add more , i have too the thermostat filtrete wifi , and my friend make too a plugin for use ....
the monitor touch screen i put in the kitchen , and i use a computer box small , the computer i install in the gavinete over of fridge
so about the doorbell , the idea is when someone touch my door , send the signal RF to TM751 , the same time send the signal to computer and Remote Chime (SC546A) .... i need make a plugin or script for that , when the computer receive the signal , open the camera door screen and i can see ...... that is theory , i dont know if is possible , i hope ...
if i dont can , so only need what working the wireless doorbell .... my home is a townhouse , two floors , is new 2000 .. so is a problem run the cable of first floor , i need wireless
i can put picture here , i dont find how ? for show you my program screen
sorry with my english i am cuban

I have old "Big Red Button" and it sends out standard X10 codes with a quick press, but like Brian said, X10 changes things with little regard as to how it effects users down the road. So disregard my May 8th response.
BTW your English is fine. Hope you like south Florida. I used to live in Ft Lauderdale.

If you have a CM15A. It has the necessary RF receiver in it and should not need the extra TM751. As long as the CM15A {not known for the best RF reception distances} can receive the KR15As signal.
Well I am now discouraged. I tested two of my KR15As with two CM15A's. Maybe 5 feet between them.
CM15A's Date Codes 08B09 and 04J44. Both KR15As did not work with the CM15As either.
To double check the tests. Both CM15As worked fine with a HR12A Palm Pad and both KR15As worked fine with a RR501 Tranceiver in the next room. B:(
-
Tried one again with a CM15A and it would add as a security remote in On Alert, but still would not process any of the normal X10 On signals it sends.
Also did not work with my SC1200 console processing House Code A. HR12A worked fine with the SC1200. The KR15A did not when sending the standard X10 command when the Red Button is first pushed.
Just a quick fact. Mine are not even close to the present Date Codes so I can not say my results would be the same. With presently being sold units.
-
you try to change to A2 , i speak with a sales of x10 , and say me what sometimes , the KR15A dont working with default A1 , so , need change to A2 , let me if this week i buy for test

I have connected a powerflash module to a (regular big box store) wireless doorbell. I modified the unit to cause the bell/receiver unit to operate a powerflash. I merely used the bell/speaker to trigger the powerflash module.
In my setup... the powerflash X10 signal would trigger a AHP (CM15A) macro and turn on a camera... and so on. I now use a DVR camera recorder and use a tablet to view my cameras remotely. So I no longer use that. But it was an easy simple setup.
-
hi HA dave , i dont use the AHP , i make my own software with x10 plugin ...
the problem with powerflash module and regular wireless doorbell is in my home i dont have many place to install that , that is too many thinks , and i looking for a solution with the few think as possible
i use one powerflash module or pro universal module , is the same correct ? , so i use one for turn on and turn off the water heater ...
let me if next week i buy that kr15a and chime module , i have one tm751 , for test
or i think the other option for me is no use the doorbell , and put a motion sensor in my door , and when the motion sensor detect someone send the signal to tm751 and then send the signal to computer , i hope

The X10 PF284 and the X10Pro PSC01 are the same. Both take a dry closure or low voltage input and send an X10 power line signal.
They have a few different modes of what is sent on a trigger.
http://www.x10pro.com/pro/pdf/psc01.pdf
How exactly are you going to control the water heater. Do you have an X10 heavy duty module that can control it, from the power line commands a Powerflash sends?
If you need a low voltage dry contact relay type output. That is an X10 UM506 or X10Pro PUM01 Universal Module.
http://www.x10pro.com/pro/pdf/pum01.pdf
Motion sensors have a tendency to sometime false if not carefully set up.
Let us know how the KR15A works if you decide to try one.
-
hi , about the how i control the water heater , i make this circuit
http://www.dv-fansler.com/X10/x10.htm
i search for all internet , and find this option , i find too the ELK-9100 , but dont sell more , is discontinued , so i make the circuit with a pro universal module and relay DPST 40A
-
Looks like you have it covered.
ELK still makes the ELK-9200. That you turn it on and off with an appliance module and it has a 220 volt switching capability with a 120 volt coil.

-
uffffffffffffffffff i dont see that , if i see that before , i buy that ELK , and is more ease
-
Maybe easier to do, but then you would have missed the joy of creating the end product.
-
jajaja oh yes ...
my friend what make for me the plugin with vb , he make too a x10 timer , so , i put the water heater turn on 6:30 pm and turn off 10:00pm , every days
-
Does turning off the water heater even help? I've read both that it saves the world and that it may save a few dollars a year at the cost of wear and tear of components and potential bacterial growth in the tank. I have a timer, but have it disabled because it's mechanical and vibrates the framing of the house. I decided that the ~$20/year savings wasn't worth the vibration. They make electric versions that I could drop in, but it'd take ~5 years to break even and, again, bacterial growth...

I wouldn't worry about saving the world... the world will still be here long after mankind has died out. I won't even give up aerosol deodorant to save the ozone... I sure ain't giving up hot showers!
The potential for money/energy savings and bacteria growth are probability somewhat closely related. The less use required of hot water... the greater the potential for savings and the stagnant water is better for growth of unfavorable microprobes... IMHO.
One person living alone... who maybe travels or works a lot might be able to turn the hot water heater off for days at a time. But an on-demand "tankless" water heater would be the better choice in that case. For most people simply turning the temperature setting down will provide the greatest savings. I don't think the best automation always means the best designed gadgetry. Often times the best automation is just the simplest... so nothing needs done or can go wrong.
