Title: DDNS Service Settings
Post by: nativedc on May 29, 2013, 05:54:38 AM
Am setting up my first XX34A IP camera. Do these cameras come with a manufacturer's DDNS service? Is it http://c8001.airsight.net (this is on the bottom of the camera)? Did I set my wifi router correctly for port forwarding (see attached)? Also, I read if I set up the DDNS correctly then I should be able to access my camera via "http://c8001.airsight.net:[port#]" - but I can't when I try that - how come? Hoping someone out there can help. Thanks

That is the manufacture DDNS.

Try using http://PORTFORWARDING.COM for your type of router.

why is your port numbers in the 14 thousand range?

I have one thing to ask; did you first hook up your camera wired, directly to the router, first? This will make the wireless set up much easier. Once you have the camera hard wired to the router, you will get it's IP address.

Once you know the info above, you can follow the procedures in your equipment manual to set it up wirellessly. You also need to know your "house system" IP address. Type "what is my IP address" into your computer brouser. This will show your home IP.

You will need this; ie 282.122.2.75 (I chose these numbers randomly) to give you the idea. When you forward the port, you will need the home IP 282.122.2.75 followed by the port number you assign, ie. 282.122.2.75:93 , where 93 is the port number. 93 is only the example I use, you can select your own number.  Contact Bill at X-10 to help you with the port forwarding. He has helped me. He is very good at what he does.

It looks like you have it set up right at a glance. Make sure the IP address matches your camera and that the protocol type is set to TCP. It is possible that your ISP is blocking port 14465 for some reason; it is probably a good idea to contact them and ask if they can unblock it.
