Recently, we needed to replace a simple Decora switch module and installed a WS12A. The old switch worked fine for many years, as did seven other X10 switches, with our 20 year old PL513. But, the new WS12A won't work with the PL513. Is there any fix? Did I buy the wrong X10 Decora switch?
Interestingly, we have an old Radio Shack 16 code manual switch and the WS12A responds to it.
Your advice is appreciated.

What controller is using the PL513 to send the commands?
Was the old switch an X10 one or a different brand? Like Leviton.

Good questions. The old switch was a Leviton #6381 and the lamp shorted out possibly killing triac. I replaced triac but little off/on manual switch isn't going back together properly after opening case. Is WS12A not the same as a Leviton 6381?
The controller for PL513 is made by Home Automation Inc. (HAI).

The Leviton 6381 according to their sales literature. Has Intellisense AGC and may have more tolerance to noise on the power lines.
Some users have said the later WS12As also have AGC but I have not found anything on that feature.

Is this a SoftStart issue? If you manually turn the WS12A ON at the switch, will the HAI software turn it OFF? If so, search "Softstart" and "Soft start" on the forum. forum.

The AHP part of this will not apply to your HAI controller but you may find the preset dim levels interesting.

The soft start thing may also apply. Depends on exactly what the HAI is sending for an X10 command through the PL513.
