Title: Amazing what you can find
Post by: bcwmachine on January 03, 2014, 03:35:59 PM
I have a win7 computer running sort of as an HTPC. Rebooted it and noticed that I had set it up as a dual boot system a few years ago.
Booted up the "old window" xp boot and discovered a good ahp install. Back in business.
Set it up to boot the xp partition, moved the HTPC stuff to another computer.

Very cool! Hopefully... it won't be too long until X10 software will be fully available again (fingers crossed).

Glad that I found it, was not real sure that I could write the macro's to use a SH10A for an alarm using Marmitek.
My dad is 92 years old and more than a bit shaky. He has had a kr19a on a lanyard around his neck for the past 7 years that fired off a macro that turned on lights and sounded a chime. Wanted something a bit louder.

..... Wanted something a bit louder.

I use Bill's Voice Commander for announcements... but I think even AHP can be made to plays sounds as does some of Tuicemen's software. But even the Universal Module with its sounder turned on can make a real noticeable sound. Or close the contacts on a radios speaker or something.

Or... something like RCaddict's X10 DIY mp3 player. http://forums.x10.com/index.php?topic=13211.msg73744#msg73744

I also installed several GE wireless doorbells with the pushbuttons located all over the place (even one in the shower). The kr19a is for if he falls and can't reach one of the doorbell buttons. The sh10a powerhorn is loud enough to wake me up.
