Title: Chime Module
Post by: Hideguy on December 28, 2016, 08:14:17 PM
Has anyone had a problem with chime modules sounding with a constant sound like a Piezo?  I have been experiencing this the last two days at the same time each night with two of them, each on a separate unit code, but same house code. They sound like a siren rather than a chime.
I'm wondering if they are picking up something from the power lines.

I vaguely remember some similar reports awhile ago.
I hope someone with a better memory or has experienced the issue. Can provide more added information and assistance.
As my search of the older messages didn't find the information I was looking for.

Same here. And the worse part is.... I can't recall either the cause or the solution.

But.............If the problem occurred here... with my setup.

My first thought would be what changed on or about the day/time of the first "buzz". Was there something new added to the powerline? Christmas lights? A gift?

I'd then check my activity log.... was there anything happening at the time of the buzz. Timer, sensor, macro?

I don't know of anyway to "cause" the chime to buzz.... so I can't look for that. I might try switching the code (like from A to B) on one to see if that stops the activity on it. If it does... that might lead in the direction of a solution.

If the sound is more like a burglar alarm, then that can happen on chimes when an extended code is issued.  I had that problem when I had noise issues.

I seem to recall threads where CFLs ended up being the culprit.
but I also would suspect something that was causing noise. Bulbs of all flavor have been known to go as they age and cause noise even incandescent ones. :(

It was the neighbors porch light?

Here's a thread on extended codes causing this.

Problem solved. The help about the two way module and extended codes helped. I changed the two way lamp module to a regular lamp module on one device in the Active Home Pro software and the chime stopped ringing like a siren. Thanks to all the responses.
