Doug: You have two choices. If you are adventurous you modify a light switch module to work with a compact fluorescent. You will void the UL and CSA certification by doing this so it isn’t recommended. You can see: http://www.idobartana.com/hakb/modifying_wall_switch.htm (http://www.idobartana.com/hakb/modifying_wall_switch.htm) for more information.
Alternatively, SmartHome has reasonably priced modules in their Switchlinc and Togglelinc lines which will work with compact fluorescents. Some people have complained about them not working properly with the CM15a while others don’t seem to have any problems with them. You can find them at http://www.smarthome.com (http://www.smarthome.com).

X10 now has a wall switch that can be used to
control fluorescent lights. You can find more
information about the WS13A here:

Socket rockets work too! It's fast and cheap.

One point on the WS13A or any other relay type wall switch. You meed a Neutral Power wire along with the line and load wires in the switch box. Older homes like mine have no neutrals in the switch box. That is why a few of mine in the house are still incandescent ones.
