Title: LM465 Lamp Module Question
Post by: steve on August 22, 2005, 02:01:08 PM
I can't control some of my LM465 Lamp
Modules from the ActiveHome Pro software.
When I use my HR12A remote to successfully
control the lights, I can see the switches
flip up and down in the software, but when
I try to use the software to control the
lights, the lamp modules will not respond
to my clicks.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
A Newbie

Steve,
I had similar trouble way back in March and
had to install a coupler between the two
electrical phases.  I used a passive coupler
and connected it across a 220vac breaker.
The coupler resides in a receptacle box near
an inside utility room breaker panel with a
small 3 wire cable running up to the breaker
box thru a short piece of plastic conduit.
After the install, everything cleared up and
I was able to control all modules in the
house from the PC or a hand held remote.  OH,
I did have a spare Test PC that wreaked havoc
with   everything... I had to shut it down
and actually removed the power cord to clear
that up.  Only option for that equipment is
to purchase a local filter or maybe replace
the dirty power supply... hope my experience
helps... oh the passive coupler cost about
$19.00..

I agree with SteveRF and a phase coupler
should be the first thing you look at
getting.  I wrote a tutorial on phase
coupling and you can find it at:

http://www.x10.webhop.org/Phase_Coupling.htm

You might also want to put some X10 noise
filters on some of the more problimatic
devices.  I have a tutorial on that at:

d_Noise_Filters.htm

where do you get one for $19?

where do you get one for $19?

See: http://www.smarthome.com/_/ProductResults.aspx?Ntt=phase%20coupler

The simplest installation if you have an electric clothes dryer is the 3 or 4 wire plug-in passive phase coupler.  (The hardwired coupler is less expensive but requires a lot of work at your breaker box since it violates code to install it inside the box.)
