Title: USB Interface not working unless PC is on
Post by: georgep on February 10, 2005, 08:25:08 AM
Hi,
I have the following issue:
I have ActiveHome Pro running on a Dell 5160
laptop.  The laptop is connected to a USB
hub and the interface is connected to that.
When the PC is up and running, timers and
macros work fine.  When the laptop goes into
suspend mode, no macros or timers work.  Whe
I download the timers and macros to the
interface, then unplug the USB cable, timers
and macros don't work.
Is the interface being powered by the USB
interface and I am losing everything when
the USB interface is powered down?  I do
have batteries in the interface so I don't
think this is the case??
Help!

GeorgeP:  One thing to check is to make
sure that for each timer and macro that the
check box for downloading it into the
interface is checked.  It usually is by
default, so I doubt if this is the problem,
but it is worth a double check.  If they
are being downloaded to the interface, it
shouldn't matter if the PC is on or off.  I
guess the USB Hub could be
generating "noise" when the PC is off which
is confusing the CM15A so you can also try
unplugging it from the Hub.

Thanks for the response Roger. I did
download macros and timers, but I'll double
check that they are all set to store in the
interface.  I also unplugged the interface
from the hub after sucessfully downloading
timers and macros, same problem.
I've seen some discussion in the forum about
people getting sent new interface units with
additional diagnostics in them.  Have you
heard anything about that?
