Title: Iwitness Crash
Post by: jerry on April 20, 2005, 01:05:59 PM
Adding a camera module to AHP with Iwitness
installed causes AHP to crash.  I have the
latest (V3.186) software installed.  The
previous version AHP also crashed the same way.

Jerry: Can you tell me what the crash details
are? Module name, crash location, etc?

What version of Windows is this? Can you look
in Program Files\Common Files\X10\Common\,
right click on X10Net.dll and view the
Properties?  What version is this file? Do
you have ATI's Remote Wonder?

I have Win Xp SP2

X10net.dll  V 3.0.0.186

I have an ATI 8500 All in Wonder card
installed. I have the Remote Wonder software
installed but I do not run the software when
starting up my computer.

Did you install the most recent version of
the ATI software? It would have been released
last month. Can you e-mail me at
ahpsupport@x10.com?

I changed my video board to an ATI 9000 AIW
Pro with all the latest drivers (minus the
remote wonder)with no change in the problem.

I tried using the VA11A to get a video input
signal and found that when a program accesses
the VA11A my Win XP completely crashes and I
have to reset the computer.  I have to remove
the unit from the USB connection to be able
to run my computer safely.  The unit did show
up in the system information window before
the crash.  This has caused at least 3 system
crashes!

I read about a possiblle fix for my crashes
by replacing the ATI Remote Wonder x10net.dll
file with a later version x10 file.  I did
not have the Remote Wonder software installed
and so I installed it.  I then replaced the
DLL file and then ran the AHP program with an
Iwitness Camera module.  The program then did
not crash for the first time with an Iwitness
module.  I then plugged  in the VA-11A module
and got a picture.  This is the first time I
have been able to use this module without my
computer crashing.
