Title: AHP kit CM15A problems (Part1)
Post by: dan sumption on April 21, 2005, 10:11:22 AM
I purchased an AHP kit (came with the CM15A
and the AHP software) from X10 direct back
in November (I believe, I have to pull out
the receipt).  I have had problems ever
sense.  I have 3 WS467 wall switches and 1
lamp module all set to a house code "M".
All 3 wall switches control outdoor
lights "M1", "M2" and "M6".  I also have a
lamp module "M5".  I am having problems
where the light will not come on at my
timer settings and if they do come on they
won't shut off at the timer settings.  Or
they will just turn on when ever they feel
like.  I have verified that none of my
neighbors have any X10 product or any Home
Automation products of anytime so I have
rulled out interference from the neighbors.

Dan: Are you able to control these modules
consistently from the screen in ActiveHome Pro?

Not entirely.  Sometimes I can and
sometimes I can't.  I have a coupler inline
thinking it may have been an issue with the
240 vs 120?  When I had my C11A I could
control everything with the AH software all
the time.  OnceI switched to the AHP
software and the CM15A, I could not at
times and then othr ties I could, but not
all at once.  It is so wierd...people on
activex10 are saying noise, but I have
never had this problem with the C11A.
Problem is, I can't go back to that because
I have windows XP Pro SP2 and the old
active home software and C11A does not work
with this version.

Are you using the CM15A in the same outlet
where you had the CM11A? If not, can you try
moving the CM15A?

Do you have a remote control that you can use
to test control using the CM15A as the
transceiver? If so, disconnect the CM15A from
the PC and see if you can control those
modules more consistently with that remote
(make sure to unplug any other transceivers
you have).

I tried the CM15A in another location and I
found that on the WS467, if I manually turn
on the switches, I can control the wall
switches via the software ie:  If I turn
the switch on manually and then try to turn
of with the software, it will work, but it
will not turn the lights on via the
software.  I have no keypads or remote
control devices other then the CM15A and
the AHP software.  I am getting to the
point of being very frustrated and wanting
to give up on the product.

I understand your frustration, and I hope we
can get this working for you pretty quickly.

The only time I've seen that problem before
it was caused by noise on the powerline that
was thinned out once the lights were turned
on. Do you have anything new, electrically or
appliance-wise, that you didn't have when the
CM11A was working fine?

Only thing new I can think of would be a
wireless access point.
