Title: What code are my door/window/motion sensors that are used by my ds7000?
Post by: msimmons on April 21, 2005, 02:36:54 PM
I have a handfull of door/window/motion
sensors that I've set up with my ds7000.
Since i set that up I've added a smattering
of cameras and other lamp modules... now I'm
having trouble arming the ds7000 sometimes
and I have a sneaking suspicion I have a
camera on the same code as a sensor...

The DS7000 and all its accesories ( D/W
sensors, Infrared sensors, etc) use a
propietary transimison code-set that does
not use any of the Automation X10 codes
(House code A-P, unit 1-16)  That is why you
need to "register" them into the DS7000
console at instalation.

Your problem must be of different nature,
check the batteries on your D/W sensors. You
may need to reset your console and register
all sensors again

Try using your DS7000 on its on house code
and everything else on seperate house codes.
You may be having signals collisions
depending on which type of transceiver you
are using for other X10 modules.

Yeah, I'm keeping everything off of the
housecode that the ds7000 is on.
Using 1 house code for security, one for
lights and one for cameras.

Good idea to keep a house code for the
DS7000 console. When tripped it sends out an
All Lights ON and All Units OFF command on
the house code it is set to.

I guess I should set all my lights on that
housecode too, that way the whole house will
flash.
So the white door/window/motion sensors I
have "registered" to the DS7000 do not count
as any of my 256 (a1-p16) slots?

No all the security sensors do not count for
the 256 addresses. Note the DS7000 sends the
All lights ON and All Units OFF. So
appliance modules that are ON will go OFF on
the first cycle and not turn back ON. Those
that are OFF stay OFF.

So only lamp modules (and sirens) will go on
that house code :)

Right. Wall switches also.

Which type of wall switches? I plan to use
the ws13a's because most of the rooms have
ceiling fans (and screw-in flourecent [sic]
bulbs) on the switch and I was told that is
the better one to use for that. probably not
a good idea to have those flashing :) but I
would like to have the front and back porch
flashing and would like the switches to look
the same.

I answered my own question... ws12a should
be fine for my incandesant switches.
