Decorator-type wall switches won't turn
transformer-based halogen track lights on
via x-10, but will dim and turn off once
manually turned on. Thoughts?

Dimming wall switches and modules are not
mad to control transformer based lights. The
relay type WS13a can but no dim and needs
the neutral in the switch box. I believe
X10Pro also makes a special dimming switch
that can do inductive loads like a
transformer run light.

X10Pro XPDI3. If you want to see a
description. Click on the AHP logo at any
X10 web page. Then accessories tab near the
top of the page; then switches.

I have 2 of those XPDI3 switches installed
in a 2 gang box but still cannot control
from AHP. They are meant for inductive
control eg, transformers, fans, etc. Any
ideas?

Eric B; I take it the local paddle on off
function works. Do you have any other
trouble modules? Most home are wired split
phase with half the home on each phase. Many
times X10 signals have a problem getting
from one phase to the other. Rough test that
sometimes helps. Turn on a 220 volt device
like a dryer or stove and see if the modules
with problems are better. If so a coupler or
repeater are needed. Another problem is
noise from modern electronics. Try unpluging
things like computers tvs etc and see if
things get better. Also the AHP cm15a
interface should not be on a surge strip as
many absorbe X10 signals. I had to add an
X10 type filter to my APC BX1000 UPS AC
input as it was killing my X10 signal.
