Title: VOICES
Post by: JimC on September 27, 2005, 07:00:27 AM
It would be nice to be able to have, user
defined, wave files run when alarms are
triggered.

Agree. This would open up a whole new set
of uses for AHP.

Why can't you create a macro to run a
command from the PC, and use "Start
Mywavefile.wav" as the command?

Hello,
I have been using X10Dispatch since March to
do just what you are asking.  I ignore all
the bells and whistles with mail and the MSN
messenger alert part of that program and go
straight for the trigger set up.  I have 2
CM15's, one is connected 24/7 just for
audible alerts. Any event can be triggered
and run a designated wave file by just
entering the PLC trigger and the wav to be
run.... FOr instance, at 10pm, my small
living room speaker announces the deck lights
have been turned off with a british accent...
at 5pm it announces the time and lets me know
the news is on TV...the list goes on and
on...quite a a nifty program.  There is even
a reference to a site to help creat your .wav
alerts..
It works each and every time on my machine
with little overhead, however, you do have to
have a CM15a connected.
You can find the system at:
http://members.cox.net/x10dispatch/
Take a look, you will like it.
Just let me know if I can help.
regards,
SteveRF

SteveRF,

Thanks for the reply. I have been using
X10Dispatch for about a year now and it
works nicely. It just seems to me that AHP
should have this capability with out the
need to run another program. I currently use
X10Dispatch to announce different motion
sensor activation . Like you I only use it
to run wave files.  I never thought about
using it to announce timer events ... that
could have some interesting applications.

Noam,

Thanks for the reply. I had not thought of
that approach. I will give it a try when I
get a chance.

Thanks,

Jim

there is another addon freeware software
program which allows voice activation It
works well with dispatch and neither need
AHP to be running unless you need to run
something needs AHP to be running like
video/pic capture. I posted a link in the
general section
