Title: RG-6 cable
Post by: Duck69 on June 01, 2006, 07:44:02 AM
Does it matter how long the RG-6 cable is ? Is there a limit on length ?
I'm asking this, because my house is only 1 story but very oddly shaped.
Also the Garage is about 100+ feet away. with the metal doors facing the house.
I will be using an antenna from WGL.
Would it be better to mount it in the attic or on an outside wall high up ?
Also, is it possible to add a splitter and have 2 antennas. 1 antenna in the attic for the house and the other outside for the garage ?
Would this even work ?
Jim

Well yes and no.
How are you using the RG-6 cable? Cable? Satellite? Air signal? Other?
There will be some signal loss for each foot of distance. Also there will be signal loss everytime you split the signal. As a general rule its best to split as close to the source as possible. Also if you need to use a signal amplipher do it before splitting the signal.

I don't have the experience to know in advance what will happen in your case but good luck. I expect others will post more help.

...I'll be using the RG-6 to attach the CM15A mod to the antenna.
Sorry I'm familiar with that mod so I'll have to defer to someone else. Good luck I'll keep any eye on the discussion. Maybe I'll learn something else here.
