Title: video and Myhouse online
Post by: debbiea on November 02, 2006, 08:57:17 AM
I am new to x-10 and am working on setting things up.  I purchased the AHP with the plugins through a special.  I found out that you need a special video adapter to use Iwitness.  I want to be able to see what is going on at my house using myhouse online.  I already have a video converter.  Right now I don't have any cameras, but I want to make sure things work before I sink any more money into this venture.  I have a wireless transmitter and receiver that I send my tv signals to different rooms in my house.  I hooked a receiver up to my video converter and was able to watch tv on my computer.  These are not x-10 tranmitters and receivers.  I saw somewhere in one of the forums that someone was able to use a different video converter (not the VA11A) to view video in AHP and myhouse.  They said they set up a module in AHP to use this coverter ( and a web cam) if I understand correctly.  I was wondering if someone could help me with this or if it is even possible to do.

Thanks

AHP only recognises the VA11A! :(
I think you may have miss read a post which suggested using a module to turn on/off the video receiver, or create modules for cams if one didn't have the iWitness plug-in.
Now you could use thirdparty software to view your cams and trigger those to open when motion was sensed. ;)
You could get X10dispatcher (http://x10dispatcher.com/) to send the pics to a site,e-mail,MSN  ;)
You can also find the VA11A on E-bay for about $7-$15 ;) :D
