Title: Fluorescent Interference
Post by: hipring on November 22, 2006, 03:31:36 PM
I have a simple system with a Power-house Mini-Timer controlling two appliance modules.  The loads are incandescent lamps.  The modules will not respond to either the ON of OFF commands if the fluorescent ceiling fixture in our laundry room is turned on.  The fixture is an energy saver with I believe a solid state ballast.  This  set-up worked fine in our old house that had old fashioned ballasts.  I have tried two different mini-timers with the same results.  I have also relocated the AC feed to the laundry room to the other incoming 120V phase hoping to get some degree of isolation but this didn't help.  Are there commercial filters available that can be installed inside the light fixture?  Thanks for your support.

Yes but I have no direct user data on how effective.
Filters I have seen:
X10Pro XPF
Leviton 6287
Noise reducers:
X10Pro XPNR
Act AC100

Wire the small Leviton 6287 Noise Block between your wall switch and the fixture.  That small filter should fit behind the wall switch if you have deep boxes.  Otherwise, wire it where power comes into the fixture.  It should solve the problem.
