I'm still incredulous about the fact that
x10 put out this update and apparently
didn't check to see if any of the features
they added or the problems they addressed
were actually fixed or added.  It looks
like they spent the bulk of their time
typing up the press release instead of
writing the code.

We,, it seems my Activity Monitor is
DEFITNELY broken now. I hope that X10 can
get it fixed soon. I don't want to wait
another two months for the next update
that "might" fix the stuff that was broken
by the update in April.

Just a few comments on the new release:

1.  The DUSK/DAWN/DAYLIGHT/NIGHTIME
conditionals STILL DO NOT WORK!

2.  The scroll bar for the rooms in Macros
still does not work properly (will not
scroll using the bar - the arrows work).

3.  The DUSK/DAWN/DAYLIGHT/NIGHTIME
conditionals STILL DO NOT WORK!

4.  Auto Stills do not work if triggered by
a macro using a delay to catch the stills
then stopping stills.  Still interval 00:15
DELAY 2:00.    Only the first one is
caught.

5.  The DUSK/DAWN/DAYLIGHT/NIGHTIME
conditionals STILL DO NOT WORK!

6.  iWitness calendar does not work
properly for viewing photos (jumps back to
arbitrary day when scrolling).  It often
goes haywire and jumps to year 1601.  Then
you start over.  Deleting stills does not
work properly (new feature).

7.  The DUSK/DAWN/DAYLIGHT/NIGHTIME
conditionals STILL DO NOT WORK!

A general side note:

Please, I really don't need new features,
plug-in or anything else until the features
on the plug-ins that I have work as they
should.  I know I will not be purchasing
anything else or recommending anyone else
do so until the ones I have work properly.

PS  Did I mention that the
DUSK/DAWN/DAYLIGHT/NIGHTIME conditionals
STILL DO NOT WORK!

....Just some comments....

That’s strange. The Nighttime conditionals
work fine on my system and have been for
the last several releases. I am using one
of the diagnostic units and my OS is XP
Home.

Jim

Can you give me an example of Nightime
conditional? Just like the Daytime below if
you want to try it and let me know if it
works.  (what is your CM15A model number?)

Tigger:       C4 On
Conditions:   C4 ON  and  Daytime
End Conditions
H5 on

this macro will not run on my XP home
system.  I would LOVE to try a timeer
conditional that works so please give me an
example.

Thanks

A little more elaboration...RUN FROM PC
does not work.  RUN FROM INTERFACE is OK.

You cannot run macros from interface with
camera functions but I am going to try
anyway and maybe it just might work when it
has not in the past!!!

David K,

David the following is from a macro that I
use to control some lights in a hall way at
night. It also turns off a chime that would
otherwise be activated by motion sensors
throughout the house . The entire macro
consists of 4 else statements. I have only
included the one with the nighttime
conditional.

G16 on and it’s nighttime
End trigger conditions
Turn attic chime off
Set flags [2]
Turn hall light on and dim to 20%
Wait for 10 minutes
Turn hall light off
Clear flag [2]

G16 is a motion sensor that is in the hall
way between my second and third floor
(Master bedroom) . If it is nighttime this
macro will turn on the hall light and after
ten minutes turn it back off. If it is
daytime the light does not turn on. In
another part of the macro (one of the else
statements) I have the macro check for a
specific time of night (1:30 am to 7:00am)
and if true turn on another light in
addition to the hall light if motion is
sensed.
I have been running this macro since the
beginning of this year and it runs
flawlessly.

Good luck,

Jim

David K,

I run the maco from the interface. I have
not tried to run it from the PC.

David K,

You can if you include all of the video
functions as a separate macro called by the
first macro.

What I do is  write the macro leaving out
the video functions. I then add a step into
the macro that runs another macro that
contains the video functions. You will need
to create a dummy module to do this but it
works. I had problems with this with
previous releases of AHP but it seems to be
working fine with this latest release. If
the computer is on the video record works
and my chime alerts me to someone at the
side door. If the computer is off the chime
still alerts me but no video recording
takes place.

If you would like to see the program please
let me know and I will post it.

Gee - I REALLY thought this would be the time
to dive in, but if the activity monitor is
still broken, and some macros don't work,
then yes, my AH + 1.42 is still more capable.

(sigh) why DON'T they make the basic product
rock-solid before adding more features (e.g.,
iWitness).  I understand this isn't the norm
in the SW industry, but this is HOME
AUTOMATION Darn it!, if the basic platform
isn't rock solid, it's useless-  it runs
-unattended- so it has to be -trustworthy-.

Query to X10/AHP
I updated  my AHP from 3.185 with:
http://software.x10.com/pub/applications/acti
vehome/ahp_updt.exe
-the update went ok, but after the update
the the pop-up "~ new Version is available"
still appears. The 'check Version' tells me
that I do have the correct version 3.187
already.
What is/went wrong ?
Pl. reply.

X10,
Ignore my previous post about page
minimizing to task bar. After I downloaded
to interface all started working fine. In
addition to this problem going away, my long
standing lack of sound seems to have cleared
up with this release.

Holger:

You're the 3rd person, including myself,
that I've heard have this problem. If you
select "check for update" under help in the
program it should go away. This version of
AHP when loaded from
http://software.x10.com/pub/applications/act
ivehome/ahp_updt.exe doesn't appear to
clear the update flag.

Thanks for all of the problem details. We'll
get to work on these things.

JTA: If your VA11A isn't working, check the
listing for Imaging Devices in Device
Manager. That should say "X10 VA11A Video
Capture." If it doesn't, choose to update
driver and install the driver located in
Program Files\Common Files\X10\Driver
Install\VA11A Vide Capture\.

Concerning the post by JTA - " VA11A isn't
working and Device Mgr is showing Intel PC
Camera "  . . .

FWIW . . .   When I checked Microsoft
Windows Update a few days ago the following
was listed under Optional hardware updates
"Intel Corporation - Video - Intel PC Camera
Pro"
I decided to accept the download thinking it
might "enhance" something related to Video
Capture in AhP . . .  wrong . .  it killed
the VA11A . I got a warning on the next load
of  AhPro that it could not locate the VA11A
and the drivers needed to be re-installed (
I did and that restored the function of the
VA11A Video Capture ).

3.187 will not run. Re-installing 3.186 will
not run until a couple of re-boots are done.
Seems it needs a couple of boots to get back
into the groove.

Any ideas? Running Win98se.

Well, without doing anything (except
downloading the macros a few times, mostly
without success) the system now recognizes
the VA11A correctly AND my macros are working
again! I haven't done or changed anything.
Can anyone explain that?
X10 - thanks for your response. I will
remember that for future reference.

Just downgraded!!

During the installation the upgrade
crashed.  I had to try again.  This is a
WinXP Pro box with SP2, not Win9x.

After I figured out the new confusing
interface, the software would not cntrol my
modules from the PC.  The remote (KR19A)
worked fine and would still control modules
via the CM15A.

Tried clearing the controller - no dice.
Tried downloading macros, they didn't work
and would not trigger modules as scheduled.

The new interface is less than intuitive,
why the change?  The old interface was
nice, it made sense.  Now you can't poll a
module to see it's status.  The new
interface is confusing and the contextual
help is not helpful.  The help is rather
brief and difficult to navigate.  What
happened to the standard help with
navigation tree?

Now that I'm back to 3.186 everything's
working.

Did you outsource the coding of the upgrade
to India?!?!??  It looks/functions in a
vastly different manner, and not in a good
one.

Same here . . . not able to poll two way
lamp modules and/or flip the module switch
using the mouse cursor in 3.187 .  Trying to
do so will result in a hard freeze and the
need for Ctrl/alt/delete to shut it down.
Returned to 3.186 and found polling two way
modules is working again in that version.

Upgraded and noticed that when using a
remote control (HR12A) to activate a Lamp
Module (LM465) it toggles on but it is
dimmed out 0%.  If I use the AH interface it
works fine.

:-----))

The way X10 is proceeding with 'UPGRADES'
is no longer funny.

To feed the customers oats is one thing,
but to use the stuff that's gone hrough the
horse a number of times is an outrage.
Loks like progamming is done now in outer
Mongolia by some blind herdsmen.

Another message for the black hole in the
X10 universe. We can only hope for a 'BIG
BANG!'

I am having trouble locating the latest
upgrade to ActiveHome Pro 3.187. When I tried
to upgrade from the 3.186 my system shut down
on me. When I used the 3.186, then I
encountered problems running the program. I
deleted 3.186 from ym system completely and
am looking for the new software 3.187. Can
anyone help? PLEASE???

from the very first post in this thread :
You can download the update directly from
here:
http://software.x10.com/pub/applications/acti
vehome/ahp_updt.exe

Mine (and many others too) crash when you
try to upgrade from within AHP.  This direct
link worked for me.

crashing when attempting the upgrade from

I can't seem to to do the update, the
program just goes away. I did the manual
update and my system process for AH is at
99%. I had to unload and go back to 3.186,
good thing I had saved a backup copy. This
is the first time I have had an update
problem. My system seems to be getting
worse, I used to have to download once a
week before timers and macros quit now it
is about every other day! What is going
on....I have had this system 7 months now
and should not be having these problems. I
am not new to this, ran the CM11A flawlesly
and a CP290 before that. I am now getting
frustrated! X10 needs to get these flaws
fixed before moving on to new plug ins. I
am excited about the internet plug in but
if this thing is not going to be reliable
what good is it.
