Title: Protection Plus Security System door chime
Post by: Mackat on May 31, 2007, 10:10:21 AM
Does anyone know of a way to remote the door chime on the console so the chime doesn't give away the position of the security console every time a door is opened?

You could add a power horn  (http://www.x10.com/products/x10_ph508.htm) which would chime when all lights on was sent (security alert)!
Or you could do a modification to the unit and add a mini stereo jack wired to the sirens then plug  an external one  similar to this  (http://www.smarthome.com/73931.html) into the jack

Can a second console be added in parallel to my ex histing system as a backup?  If that would work, I could disable the chime on the second console and place it in a hidden location.  Is the output of the chime a standard audio output?

There are users that run more than one console but How it is done I'm not sure.
In your case disabling the siren in your current one and using a powerhorn would be a cheeper route! ;)
You could even use mutiple power horns and it would still be cheeper!

I had seen (or read) of a mod, for adding a mono microphone jack, then remotely placing the little speaker.
