Title: X10 "sale"
Post by: stan f on July 15, 2007, 08:31:08 PM
From what I can gather, X10 puts products on "sale" repeatedly at the same price day-after-day and week-after-week. Months later a $49 product comes up for $49. Take the wireless TV sender as an example. Complete with the 5-way remote comtroller it seems to sell for $49 consistently in different clothing. Am I wrong that $49 is $49???

Yep! Just like the retail store in your home town!

That's a GREAT new price for those! I bought TWO sets of those when they were sold at Radio Shack.... and paid $99 a set.

" Giant Model Sale" at the car lots, "Going Out Of Business Sale" at the furniture stores, and "X10 Blowout Sale" all mean the same thing....business as usual. ;)

Well, I couldn't resist the $49 price for the 4 s/w packages (Smart Macros, AHP etc.) plus the CM15A.  I just had a skunk go to town in our trash cans (garage left open overnight) and our 12 year-old left the freezer open and everything melted.

Once I get this set up, I will get a couple of those wireless window/door sensors and, I suppose, a chime box.  Hope it all works.

No reason why it won't work! I have a "garage door open macro" that tells and reminds me when garage door is left open. You can read about the setup and see a YouTube Video of the setup at my BVC fan Page. (http://davesdomainonline.com/bvc/bvc.htm) And a few other videos at my YouTube Channel. I was "surfing" on ebay and low and behold I found under security cameras, the x10, I suppose that x10 "sells" to different companies for them to "auction" the same thing they have here but only "buy now" option.  Has anyone else note the same thing anywhere else?

Yes... you will see X10 re-sellers on eBay. Often times the great deals are less-great when you look at the shipping costs. I've found my best deals right at the X10.com Web Site (http://www.x10.com/homepage.htm).

Just use care with EBay vendors. Many are very good; but we have seen here ;some folks reporting; getting old and used stuff that is flaky.

Hmm, I should start a list of all of the good sales that I've collected over the years. I found a deal that had 11 door/window sensors for $50, a 4 for 1 Ninja Pan and Tilt base deal, a 3 wireless camera deal for $110, 6 for 1 on the PalmPad remotes, among others. All of those sales appear to still work.

I'm really tired of the smut style and after the scratch n' sniff dent sale I told em so.
It's getting insulting. Not good for this Christian.

I buy all my stuff on eBay anyway. I don't know how I got on their list. 'Prolly from joining this board.

Like I said in another thread. My theory is; the X10 Marketing Director is about 17 and still in high school. IF he is older and has a degree in marketing, then he probably purchased it while trolling for trollups, bobbing for bimbos, and fishing for floozies, in the Bahamas.

Yes, and the "Black Friday" advertising reached a new low for x10. I was embarrassed to access the x10 website from work---it looks like a pornography site.

But back to the topic of deal news and alerts, anybody seen any really good deals lately?

Yah but it's a wireless camera. Do they ever have deals with wired cameras?

You can always put a wired cam on it. I did! ;)
Or you could convert it, the instructions I believe are posted on the forum! ;)

It's been sometime since I've seen a deal on a wired cam!

HEY X10  how about a WIRED  camera deal.

I'm afraid I'd end up with the camera lens soldered to my one of my fingernails if I tried that, Tuicemen. rofl :-[

I find the best deals for my liking by going to the main page, Pornless, and in the search area type the model number of the main item I am looking for. Doing this I get all types of deals in relationship to that product, I cant seem to find any of those pages any other way, always a deal hiding somewhere.
Here is one for a wired cam I was looking at before. http://www.x10.com/products/sc23a_sp_2cv_39c144.html
This way I don't have to go through all the porn stuff, of which seems to be slowing down just a bit.

Hmmm pornography site that's kind of harsh! Maybe soft porn.  rofl  Someone at x10 has a sexual obsession, kind of insulting at times, my wife doesn't like it at all.

HEY X10  how about a WIRED  camera deal.

I just (yesterday) received my WIRED nightwatch camera, VA12A Video Adapter, and VanGuard Software for $49.99. I haven't been able to get the Video adapter work with my XP [home] Computer... still a very good deal. THANK YOU X10.

Hey Dave:
Please let us know when you have your VA12A up & running, and what have you done to make that happen...
I'm struggling to make my VA12A to work... I'm using Vista... and tried the drivers that are posted at the X10 website and the drivers that Vista downloaded from Windows Update...  No luck either way...
I can watch the video feed using the composite input in my tv tuner card (so I know that the camera & receiver are working)...
But cannot make the VA12A work...

Hey Dave:

Vista setup was a breeze... I setup my Vista laptop to make sure it worked. However... I am having a bit of a problem with my Home Automation PC... which is an XP [home].

For the Vista I upgraded AHP with (the buggy) 3.236 version. And I also downloaded the VA12A drivers from HERE (http://www.x10.com/support/support_soft1.htm). I rebooted and all was well.

Thanks Dave !

I did install the drivers from the same location you pointed me to.... but unfortunately, the only thing I get in the AHP camera monitoring screen is noisy lines...

But, as I'm using AHP 3.228, would it be reasonable to say that I cannot get this thing up & running because of 3.228 ?

I never had 3.236 installed in my computer (when I purchased AHP & CD15A, the version was already 3.228, so that's the one I was able to install...)

Would you suggest "downgrading" to 3.236 ?
If the answer is "yes", where can I download this from ?
Thanks !

Go to http://software.x10.com/pub/applications/activehome/   Everything AHP is there.  Beware, though, 3.236 is considered a buggy version of AHP, too many have it and downgraded to 3.204 because of it, then upgrading to 3.228.

Yes I did.

My old P3 is a bit slow for the VA12A and BVC (http://www.davesdomainonline.com/bvc/bvc.htm). So I am using a VA11A... but still getting better results that a VCR.
