Ok I bought a sc2800 otherwise known as a sc9000 went looking for a door sensor to put with it couldn't find the ds18 or ds10E so thought OK ds10a sounds close reads as though it operates the same but i can not get it to talk to the control unit finding compatibilty tables seems near useless or I am putting the wrong keywords in any body help!!!!!!!! ???

Not knowing what a sc2800 is, I googled it and found that it operates at 433MHz (European / Australian / ?).
The DS10A operates at 310MHz (North American). So that alone will make them incompatible.

Most times with modules; the E at the end of the part number is European. An A is America and Canada. The European modules use a different RF frequency and a DS10A will not work with a European system; as it is on the frequencies allowed here. I know USA is 310 MHz and I believe European is 433 MHz if my memory serves me.
Edit to change my frequencies as Puck found the correct one for the E models.

You may wish to look at x10Europe for Sensors (http://www.x10europe.com/es/sensors.htm) they seem to have what you need! ;)
