Title: AHP macro dial out to my cell phone
Post by: tolum on November 20, 2007, 02:50:25 PM
I want to setup a macro that will call my cell phone and say something like "Garage door stays open". My garage door is watched by a Powerflash module. So AHP knows when the door is open or closed.

Any SIMPLE freeware available to call out with my computer modem?

Tks!

Thierry

It might be easier to use the existing plugins for AHP and have it text a message to your phone.

Have you looked at AlertDialer? (http://www.angelfire.com/in2/ontkoi/X10AHP/Alertdialer.html)
That's the only freeware program I know of that will do what you want, and I had to make it! ;) There are other programs that will do what you wish but they aren't free!
You can also use AHP to send a text message as (Steven r stated) if the receiving phone is capable of displaying that(no other software is required to do that)!
If you do try AlertDialer and find it works with your voice modem please drop me an e-mail or post to Topic: [AHP Add-On] AlertDialer (Phone Control)  (Read 10505times)  (http://www.x10community.com/forums/index.php?topic=4776.0) and let me know what brand modem your using!
Cheers

How can I setup that plugin?
You'll need the Myhouse plug-in and send an e-mail to your phone #!
If you don't have that plug-in AlertDialer is cheeper if you have a voice modem! ;)

Do I go with basic or standard version?

Have you installed the NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&DisplayLang=en) ? This is needed, sometimes a windows auto update will install it if you have other programs that installed Net Framework 1 but not always! Many newer windows applications require this! ;)

The Procedure:
[/color][/b]
Note: Before you create the macro make, sure your Voice modem will work with the program (AlertDialer)! ;)

The Procedure:
  • 1: You have to create a batch file (from AlertDialer) to phone your cell and speak the text you wish or play the wave file you wish!

  • 2: Next you'll need to create a macro to run the batch file with a Security Module trigger from AHP! ;)

  • 3: AHP must be running in order for it to fire the batch file as the macro must be run from the PC.

Note: Before you create the macro make, sure your Voice modem will work with the program (AlertDialer)! ;)

I have a fax/data modem installed. Will receive my voice modem next week. But during that waiting time, I did try to create a Batch File by openning the software and go on top to 'FILE' & 'Create Batch File'. Did enter a name 'CallCell', enter my cell number and a phrase that modem will say. I did hit 'OK'. A new error message here are the details:

************** Débogage JIT **************
Pour activer le débogage juste-à-temps (JIT), le fichier de configuration pour cette
application ou cet ordinateur (machine.config) doit avoir la valeur
jitDebugging définie dans la section system.windows.forms.
L'application doit également être compilée avec le débogage
activé.

Par exemple :

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

Lorsque le débogage juste-à-temps est activé, les exceptions non gérées
seront envoyées au débogueur JIT inscrit sur l'ordinateur
plutôt que d'être gérées par cette boîte de dialogue.

Any answer to that? Is this because my modem is not a voice one?

Tks for your help

For some reason the installer created the folder "BatchFiles" AlertDialer is looking for "Batch Files" (with a space) hence the error!
Renaming the folder should fix the problem! ;)
I guess most users create there own batch files as your the first to catch this! ::) ???
