Hi,

Can the minitimer2 be used to program a socket rocket in a porch light and how would it be done?

Yes, provided the desired unit code of the Socket Rocket is 1 through 8, which is the range of the MiniTimer.

It'll be easier if you program the Socket Rocket in a lamp which is visible from where you have the MiniTimer plugged in.  Then after programming you can move it to the porch light.  It usually helps to have the lamp with the Socket Rocket and the MiniTimer plugged into the same outlet so you're sure of a strong signal to the Socket Rocket.

With only a bulb in the lamp, make sure the lamp switch is on, then pull the plug on the lamp.  Replace the bulb with the Socket Rocket plus bub.  Plug the lamp back in and within 30 seconds press the MiniTimer  On button for the desired housecode|unitcode three or more times at 1 second intervals.  When you've sent enough On signals, the lamp will turn on.

You could first  try programming it with the Socket Rocket and bulb in place in the porch light by turning off the porch light switch.  Then turn it back on again, and within 30 seconds press the MiniTimer On button three  or more times as above.
