Title: Security Installer License
Post by: strongstar on January 14, 2008, 11:02:22 AM
In the State of New York, you have to be licensed to install security & fire systems - a 60 hour course is required.
I suppose the license is required for installing any X10 security systems for customers as well?

Assuming the license applies to "wireless" security systems as well as "hardwired", then the answer would most likely be yes.  Since you should never assume, ask the State of New York people.

Also, if you are adding hardwired X10 light switches or receptacles, you will most likely need to be licenced as an electrician as well.  Again, best to ask the "Authority Having Jurisdiction" wherever you are.  ;)
