Title: WS467 Getting HOT!!

I have a WS467 controlling 4 indoor flood lights in my kitchen. They are the GE Reveal 120watt bulbs. So there is a total of 480watts on this switch.

The switch and wall plate are EXTREMELY WARM....

Is this normal? should I replace the 120watt bulbs with 65watt ones??

I have read in the pass that they do get hot. If and Only if you want to you can lower the wattage. Mine get hot too.

I think I will change out the 120's for the 65's.

Just doesnt seem safe to be letting them get as hot as they do.

FWIW
Although X10 does not mention this, I believe the "500 watt" rating of the wall switch is somewhat dependent on additional heat sinking of a metal wall box. if you have plastic wall boxes, the heat sinking ability is reduced. You can probably get the WS467 a little cooler if you use a metal wall box and be sure the mounting tabs of the switch are flush up against the ears of the wall box, for maximum heat sinking.

Also if there is another dimmer switch next to each other. De-rating of the maximun wattage; is usually used. I don't know if X10 has published the wattage reduction for more than one next to each other.

I've never seen it for X10 either. For other companies, I think they recommend dropping the rating by 100 watts for each side by side switch. 100 Watt drop would probably be a good guide for side by side X10 switches also.
